OUR ASSOCIATION

2019年に設立された一般社団法人H.B.A JAPAN (ヘアブレイダーズアソシエーション、以下HBA JAPAN)は、日本やアジアにおいてアフリカとアフリカン・ディアスポラ文化の研究、普及、調査などを活動の柱としています。当団体は、6000年以上の歴史を持つアフリカ文化の一環であるブレイディング技術やテクスチャードヘアケアなどの正しい知識と技術の普及に取り組んでいます。また、黒人系ミックスの方々のコミュニティ構築やイベントも積極的に行っています。

H.B.A JAPANは、40年以上にわたり美容に関わり唯一ヘアブレイディングの専門知識を有する団体です。私たちは日本におけるブレイディングの先駆者として、文化的重要性を守り伝える使命を担っています。

当団体では、元祖ブレイディングスクールのプログラムを含む様々なコースを通じて、最先端かつ正確な技術と知識を提供し、美容の多様性を受け入れる理念を実践しています。

アフリカとアフリカン・ディアスポラの美容意識や文化に焦点を当て、アジア、日本を含む地域で美の文化と歴史の研究、調査、普及、教育を行い、文化的な理解を促進し、平和を広げ、幸せに満ちたコミュニティを育む。

Our vision is to conduct comprehensive research, exploration, dissemination, and education of the cultural and historical aspects of beauty, with a particular emphasis on African and African diaspora culture. We aim to be a catalyst for cultural appreciation and understanding, creating a platform where individuals can learn about diverse hair care practices and gain insights into the rich heritage of different communities. By fostering an environment of cultural exchange and appreciation, we aspire to build a society where diversity is valued, and where peace and happiness flourish.

多様性が認識され、さまざまな文化が理解され、祝福される社会を創り出す。文化的な理解の入り口となることを目指し、特にアフリカとアフリカン・ディアスポラの美と文化遺産に焦点を当てたヘアケアの分野で活動する。研究、調査、普及、教育を通じて、多様性が受け入れられる環境を育み、日本およびアジア地域全体で平和で喜びに満ちたコミュニティの成長に寄与することを目指す。

Our mission is to create a society where diversity is acknowledged and various cultures are understood and celebrated. We strive to be a gateway to cultural understanding, focusing on the beauty and cultural heritage of Africa and the African diaspora, particularly in the realm of hair care. Through research, investigation, promotion, and education, we aim to foster an environment where diversity is embraced, leading to the growth of peaceful and joyful communities in Japan and throughout the Asian region.

Our mission is to spread the beauty of hair braiding and textured hair, conducting comprehensive research and education on the cultural and historical aspects of beauty, particularly focusing on African and African diaspora culture. We aim to be a catalyst for cultural appreciation and understanding, creating a society where diversity is valued and peace flourishes.

代表 Emiko "Emmy" Najima

HBA Japan 代表兼ブティック美容室Addition-Bオーナー。

エクステメーカーのコンサルタントとしても活動し、ファイバーの開発などにも関わる。約40年間に渡り第一線で活躍する、日本におけるブラックヘアー、ヘアブレイディング業界の第一人者。

国際理美容専門学校を首席で卒業後、日本でスタイリストとしてのサロンワークを経て、90年代初めに単身渡米。NYにてアパレルショップを経営する傍ら、現地ブレイダーからブレイディング技術を習得。そして、習得した技術をベースに最善のペインレスブレイド™️法に改良考案した。現地でガーナ人と結婚、出産後に帰国し再び美容業に専念、インポートアパレルショップとブラックヘアサロンB-STYLEをオープンし、現在に至る。


日本でスタンダードになっている"ファイバー""ブレイダー""プロブレイダー""ヘアブレイディング"などの業界用語を多く広めた。ブラックヘアの歴史を含む知識は業界一。またハートのコーンロウや毛糸を使ったヤーンブレイズの発案者でもある。サロンワーク以外でもブレイディングやメイクアップの講師として活躍。さらにヘアメイクアップアーティストとして撮影に携わり、流行を国内外にいち早くアウトプットしている。そのスタイルは海外でも評価が高く、海外の有名雑誌ESSENCEやBLACK BEAUTY & HAIR、BLACK FASHIONにも度々取り上げられている。


2017年11月にLondonで開催されたヨーロッパ最大のブラックヘアコンテストBlack Beauty Sensationnel Hair Awardsにて日本人初（アジア初）BRAID STYLIST、INTERNATIONAL STYLIST of The Yearの２部門ノミネート。INTERNATIONAL STYLIST of The Year2017受賞★

2018年の同コンテストにおいてもINTERNATIONAL STYLIST of The Year 2年連続ノミネートという快挙を遂げている。

HBA Beauty Academy Internationalでは、どんな人でも必ずブレイディングができるようになる教え方を心得え、カリキュラムの構成から指導まで全てを行っている。

Emiko Najima is an H.B. A Japan President and Owner of Addition-B Beauty Salon.

​

Also active as a consultant for extension manufacturers, involved in the development of fibers and more. A pioneer in the Black hair and hair braiding industry in Japan, with a career spanning approximately 40 years.

​

After graduating at the top of the International Beauty School, she gained experience as a stylist in Japan before moving to the United States in the early 90s. While running an apparel shop in NY, she learned braiding techniques from local braiders. Based on the acquired skills, she devised the best EMK™️ Painless and care braiding method. She got married to a Ghanaian in the U.S., and after giving birth, she returned to Japan and devoted herself to the beauty industry once again. She opened an imported apparel shop and the Black hair salon B-STYLE, where she currently operates.

​

She has popularized industry terms such as "Fiber," "Braider," "Pro Braider," and "Hair Braiding," which have become standard in Japan. She possesses unrivaled knowledge, including the history of Black hair. She is also the very first person to popularize Heart Cornrows and Yarn Braids using yarn in Japan. She is actively involved as an instructor for braiding and makeup, not just in salon work. Additionally, she participates in photoshoots as a hair and makeup artist, quickly disseminating trends domestically and internationally. Her style is highly regarded overseas and has been featured in renowned magazines such as ESSENCE, BLACK BEAUTY & HAIR, and BLACK FASHION.

In November 2017, at the Black Beauty Sensationnel Hair Awards, the largest Black hair contest held in London, she became the first Japanese (and Asian) to be nominated in two categories: BRAID STYLIST and INTERNATIONAL STYLIST of The Year. She won the INTERNATIONAL STYLIST of The Year award in 2017★

In the same contest in 2018, she achieved the remarkable feat of being nominated for INTERNATIONAL STYLIST of The Year for two consecutive years.

​

At HBA Beauty Academy International, she ensures that everyone learns to braid through their teaching methods, from curriculum development to instruction.
